COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Response
Though it remains to be seen to what degree COVID-19 will impact Indiana, the number of cases continue to rise. Given an incubation period averaging between 2-14 days, it is important to exercise caution as symptoms follow days to weeks after infection. In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Fair Haven has adopted the following practices.
We recommend people stay home from church if they are sick or part of the at risk group. Those experiencing cough, shortness of breath, or fever should stay home.
At Risk People
The CDC states that the elderly or those with chronic medical conditions are most at risk. Those with heart and lung disease or diabetes have a higher risk of developing more serious complications.
According to the CDC the most effective way to prevent contracting/spreading COVID-19 is to wash your hands often with soap and water or with hand sanitizer if soap and water are unavailable. Cover coughs and sneezes to prevent spreading COVID-19. Stay home if you are at higher risk to avoid contact with others.
Fair Haven Services
Fair Haven will continue to offer normal worship services and programing. When at church be sure to follow the above prevention methods described by the CDC. Hand Sanitizer is available throughout the building for your use.
- Until further notice we are suspending the in-service greeting time of shaking hands, etc. Fair Haven will continue to host our services at the regular times. For those who wish not to attend in-person, services will be streamed online live during regular service times. Links will be provided in subsequent emails or the service can be viewed at www.fairhavencc.org
- Alternative plans for serving communion and offering have been made.
- As the response to COVID-19 is constantly developing, we will adjust this policy as needed.
- In the event a case of COVID-19 is contracted by someone who has attended Fair Haven recently or there is a significant threat to the safety of parishioners we will: (i) Notify the church population of the incident(s), (ii) Suspend all on-campus meetings and services, (iii) Recommend suspending small groups which meet in homes (iv) Consult with health officials as of next steps. Services will be streamed online and portable communion will be available for pickup.
Staff and Office Hours
Staff should exercise caution and stay home if they are sick. In the event the church suspends Sunday and weekday programs, the office will also close and staff will work from home if/as able. Staff will also suspend meeting with groups or individuals.
Health Officials’ Recommendations
Fair Haven Elders will consider reasonable recommendations by health officials concerning best practices and will decide accordingly.
